Player Tendencies

  • DPT (Dominant Play Type) - The play type from which a player scores the highest percentage of their total points.

  • DPT2 (Secondary Play Type) - The second-most frequent scoring play type.

  • DSZ (Dominant Shot Zone) - The court zone where a player scores the highest percentage of their total points.

  • DSZ2 (Secondary Shot Zone) - The second-most frequent scoring court zone.

  • DAZ (Dominant Assist Zone) - The court zone where a player delivers the most assists.

  • DAZ2 (Secondary Assist Zone) - The second-most frequent assist zone.

  • C&S - Catch and Shoot

  • Pull Up - Pull-up jumper (off the dribble)

  • PITP - Points in the Paint

Core Stats

  • PTS - Points

  • AST - Assists

  • REB - Rebounds

  • 3PM / 3PT - Three-Pointers Made

  • 3PA - Three-Point Attempts

  • FG - Field Goals Made

  • FGA - Field Goals Attempted

  • FG% - Field Goal Percentage

  • 1Q - First Quarter (e.g., 1Q Passing Yards, 1Q Rushing Yards)

Opponent Metrics

  • Opp D-Rank - How well a team defends overall. Lower rank = better defense.

  • Opp Allowed - How much the opposing team allows for a specific stat. Lower = less allowed (tougher matchup).

  • Opp D-Rank vs Position - How the opponent defends against the player's specific position for the selected stat.

  • Opp DefRtg - Opponent Defensive Rating (points allowed per 100 possessions, NBA/WNBA).

  • Opp Pace - Opponent's pace of play.

  • Opp [Stat] Allowed - How much of a specific stat the opponent gives up (e.g., Opp Pass Yds Allowed, Opp Rebounds Allowed).

  • Opp D-Rank vs DPT - How the opponent defends against the player's dominant play type.

  • Opp D-Rank vs DSZ - How the opponent defends the player's dominant shot zone.

  • Opp Press Rate - Opponent's quarterback pressure rate (NFL).

  • Opp Sack Rate - Opponent's sack rate (NFL).

  • Opp RZ TD Allowed - Red zone touchdowns allowed by the opponent (NFL).

Important: In playoffs, worst defense ranks 16th (number of playoff teams). In regular season, worst ranks 30th (NBA) or 32nd (NFL). Keep this in mind when comparing rankings across seasons.

Game Context & Splits

  • H2H - Head-to-Head (past matchups against the same opponent)

  • B2B - Back-to-Back (second game in two consecutive days, NBA/WNBA)

  • Home / Away - Performance split by game location

  • Won By / Lost By - Filter games by margin of victory or defeat

  • Playoff / Regular Season - Filter by season type

Odds & Lines

  • Hit Rate - Percentage of games where the player went over the line shown on the graph.

  • Closing Line - The final line offered by a sportsbook before the game starts. PropsMadness uses the sharpest available book (currently FanDuel for NBA).

  • Line - The number set by a sportsbook for a player prop (e.g., 24.5 points).

  • Over / Under - Betting on whether the player will go above or below the line.

  • Juice - The odds attached to a line (e.g., -110, -113). Indicates the price you pay to bet.

  • AVG DIFF - Average difference between the player's actual result and the line across games shown.

  • AVG DIFF % - Same as above, expressed as a percentage.

  • PTS DIFF % - Percentage difference between the closing line and actual result for a single game.

Graph & Dashboard

  • Blue Line - The advanced filter overlay on the graph, tracking a selected metric (like USG% or Minutes) across every game.

  • Graph AVG - The average for games currently shown on the graph based on your applied filters.

  • Season AVG - The full-season average for a stat, regardless of filters.

  • Diffs - The difference between the graph average and the filtered-out games average. Shows how your filters change the picture.
